Hi everyone! I'm sorry I've been gone so long. When the robotics team competed at the state tournament in January, they were selected to attend the FLL US Open in Dayton at the beginning of May. Helping with the team, teaching a few classes, and being involved with everything else that life offers ended up being a bit too much on my plate. But the competition is over, school is done for the year, and I'm now breathing a sigh of relief. There has been knitting, but I'll show that in another post.
This will be the summer of makeovers. We're going to remodel our kitchen and I'd like to remodel myself, too. I'm tired of feeling older and looking drab. I know I won't physically feel better until I lose some weight and get in shape. And I think I'll feel better emotionally if I am happy with my appearance. I've checked out some fashion and beauty books from the library and started watching makeup videos on YouTube. (I had no idea that there is a community of makeup artists with YouTube pages. I just checked and there are knitters with pages, too. Kind of like video blogs. I feel behind now!) And I bought a new top because I mostly have t-shirts in my wardrobe. I'm afraid the top makes me look like I'm trying to be 25 instead of 45. But I've been told it's okay. What do you think? I might cut and re-hem the elastic part on the bottom to let it hang straight.
Aside from eating better and exercising, do you have any tips for feeling and looking one's best?

That blouse is really cute - I wouldn't change a thing. I have no advice because I mostly feel the same way. Let me know what you figure out!

Glad you are back. I agree the top is cute. I started walking and following WW online and bought new tops.

I like the top! And I think it is great for a 45 y/o. My favorite beauty tip lately is hair: get it cut often, and brush and re-style at least once int he day as needed.
Glad you are back
(going to brush my hair and do spray)

Glad you are back. The top is great. It's not just for 25's. If you want make up tips...you can ask me. There are some great virtual makeovers on-line.

The top is lovely! And I've been looking at a lot of drop spindle spinning videos on youtube ~ it sure is addictive!

How fun! Reinventing yourself is always exciting, I think. Of course, I think you are rather perfect as is, but I am probably biased...

I am at the same place - thinking about how not to look drab but not over the top, you know. I guess it's finding the 'me' for this age that I've reached. Wondering if I should cut my long hair short but I haven't quite figured things out yet :) Do keep us posted about makeover ideas, it's fun to tweak things now and then.
The blouse looks pretty. I have something similar except that it is just plain black. I don't think it's a good idea to cut off the elastic because the length might be too short for a straight hang blouse.

I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't seen a post from you in awhile! Welcome back! =)
You and I must be on the same wavelenght. We remodeling our house a bit this summer too -- countertops/window coverings/paint.
And I recently bought a little bit of make-up for the first time in about 5 years! It was actually rather fun!

Good luck with your kitchen remodel! I hope it goes smoothly and you can post some photos for us!
I hope that you are able to meet your goal weight and feel better about yourself. I need to do that too. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago, but gained some of it back. Walking is definitely a great exercise and not too intimidating. Thanks for posting about the makeup videos! I'll need to check those out.

I agree "Good yarns": When your hair looks good, you feel good. And it's easier and quicker than losing weight! Not just cut, but for me also color. It's expensive, but worth it!
