Felt Like Knitting

Tote

Not much going on in my knitting world lately.  Just a few more rounds on my green purse/tote.  Knitting with that yarn is like working with burlap.  But, I have it in my stash already and it will make a sturdy tote.

An acquaintance says I should try knitting socks.  They do seem to be very popular on a lot of the knitting blogs.  And they'd be more portable than carrying around a big purse.  And my daughter wants a pair.

Thrift store finds

I had some time to go to a few thrift stores yesterday and found the following sweaters:

All but the pinkish/reddish sweater were at least slightly pre-felted.  They will be turned into a blanket.  The pinkish sweater had the tag cut out, so I'm not sure of its fiber content.  But I liked the yarn and it was cheap, so I thought I'd give it a try.

The sweaters went through two rounds of hot water agitation, a spin, a cold rinse, and a final spin.  The sweater on top the drying rack started as a large sweater, but it would now fit a two year old...maybe.  I hope I haven't shrunk it too much to use in a blanket!

Stayed up too late

I used to stay up late all the time, but haven't done that in a while.  Last night I was up until 1:30 reading blogs and knitting and now I'm paying for it.  I feel pretty yucky - I guess I'm too old for this!

I worked more on the tote from Felted Knits.  I have about 4 more rows of what I assume is the bottom of the bag.  I'm anxious to get that part done and move on to the stockinette.

Another Sophie bag

I keep meaning to felt other things, but I really enjoy making purses.  Tonight I started a purse/tote from Felted Knits to use up some bulky yarn I bought on eBay.  (Who knew it would be that rough and bulky?!)

I recycled a wool sweater from Goodwill (blue) and combined it with some new Galway wool (green) to make another purse for myself.  I knit a swatch (ugh!) and realized that the green would probably felt better than the blue.  But I still chanced it.  Here are before and after (still wet) pictures:
