Well, the end of this project is in sight. The sides and strap go on forever! It makes me wonder how I ever found scarf-knitting fun. I suppose I was using bigger needles then. Anyway, I made the sides and bottom all one color so now I'm running out of yarn for the strap.
The pattern says to knit so many rows, decrease, knit so many rows, etc. then eventually start increasing. To make sure I have enough of the blue, I've knit to the point the strap stops decreasing and cut my yarn. (Like my twist-tie stitch holder?) I joined to the other side and I'm repeating the same process. Then I'll decide what to do in the middle. There most likely won't be enough blue, but I can hope! I'll probably add stripes of the aqua and purple.
Once I read a quote from designer Todd Oldham. It was something about turning mistakes into design features. Running out of yarn may be the best thing for the bag....who knows?
