There aren't many advantages to outgrowing your clothes. But, I just discovered one. I can make handbags from the things I don't wear anymore!
I had a linen tank top that I really liked, but it was a little too short, a little too tight in certain places, showed my arms, etc. But, I loved the fabric from which it was made - an orange paisley. After a few hours of work, I now have an orange paisley handbag!
The whole thing cost me a whopping $2.75 for 1/2 yard of beaded trim. I had everything else here. Since the linen was a bit flimsy, I added some thin batting and quilted it a bit. Wonder what else I don't wear anymore?
Aren't you smart! I have saved some of Jeff's flannel shirts, to maybe one day make a rag quilt with them. Our ancestors would be so proud! The bag is great, esp. with the beaded trim.

Just terrific! I have done a lot of craft 'redo's' over the years,it can be a very creative process. Another idea I really like is braided rag rugs that use strips of fabric that are crocheted with a large hook and then sewn to form a rug. Ive seen some really beautiful ones, haven't gotten around to making one yet. I actually plan to start a craft blog/site in the not to distant future, might keep this in mind for a project there. ENjoy your tote Beth, you did a great job. :)

That is a great bag, Beth! I swear we must be kindred spirits! I also can't wait to see your Noni bag...I am working on mine right now!
