Felt Like Knitting

I've been admiring the beautiful flowers on Katie's blog.  I watched as her irises started blooming last month.  I watched as my neighbors' irises did, too.  I can finally watch mine!

                                         

This picture was taken yesterday morning.  Today there are a bunch more ready to come out.  Hopefully the thunderstorms predicted for this afternoon won't cause any damage to them.

Blah

I've been meaning to try new blog colors again, but this wasn't the right time to try it!  :)  I'll find more pleasing colors soon...    I have the banner pretty much how I want it, but I still need to play with the sidebar colors.  It's a bit hard to see the writing.  And I have to figure out how to change some of the writing to black.  Time for band practice...

What's wrong with this picture (aside from the rat's nest of yarn and the table that needs refinished)?  How in the world did I start knitting on the purl side?!  And how did I not notice it for two rows?!  I guess it's too late to be knitting.  "I just want to finish the blue circle or the green circle before I stop."  Ha!  Now I know why it's called the Wobbly Circles Tote.  I'm the wobbly one.  I'm not even going to try to un-knit it tonight.

In brighter news, I finished seaming the baby sweater tonight.  I just have to weave in the ends before I photograph it.  I'm glad it's done.

Wobbly Circles Tote

The official start date for the Wobbly Circles Tote KAL was Saturday, but I started last night.  I do have one hole that I'm unwilling to fix by frogging, but I can take care of that later since it will be felted.  So far I'm enjoying it, but we'll see how I feel about side two!

The Third Day concert was wonderful!  The opening band was David Crowder Band and they're another of my favorites.  Check out their music.

The Fabulous Fox, here I come!

I've mentioned before that I'm a fan of the rock band Third Day.  I absolutely love their music!  Well, they are having a concert in town tomorrow night at The Fox Theatre.  I didn't try to buy tickets and the show sold out in 40 minutes, so I knew I wouldn't be going.  I've been rather sad about that.  So I've been trying to win tickets on the radio.  No tickets. 

Until tonight...  A friend called to say that he knew someone that knew someone that had two tickets for sale.  I called another friend that said she would go with me and now I'm going to the concert!!!  This is going to be such a wonderful experience.  I feel so blessed every time I hear them play!

If you like Southern Rock and Roll, check them out.  Two of my favorites are Keep on Shinin' and Love Heals Your Heart, but all the songs are great!

And now on to knitting...  Knitting?  What's that?  :)  Okay.  I'm just too pumped to even think about knitting right now. 

Historical Markers

Okay, this is way off the topic of knitting, but have you ever driven by a historical marker on the side of the road and not been able to read it because your husband zoomed by it?  Well, look what I just found:  Georgia Historical Markers!

Today I hiked with a group at Sope Creek in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.  There were stone ruins of a paper mill visible across the creek.  Very cool.  Much different than the paper mill I used to work in!  I forgot to read the historical markers until after I had left the park.  But thanks to the web site, I know what they said!

                                               

April Project Spectrum Colors

April's Project Spectrum colors are orange and yellow.  I've been meaning to gather my orange and yellow belongings for a photo shoot, but I'm too lazy.  So I guess you won't be seeing my orange and yellow capris and various orange shirts.  :)  But I do have a few pics to share with you...

1.  Guitar picks!  The three orange picks are special picks but the yellow one is the one I use each week.  I play electric guitar in our band at church each week.  I absolutely love it.  I just wish I could practice and knit at the same time because knitting is winning out right now and my playing is starting to suffer!

4.  Eggs?  Yep, eggs.  My daughter made these on the last day of March and I thought it was an appropriate intro for April's colors.

5.  A purse I made that still needs a button.

For this project, we don't have to knit.  The orange and yellow can be in anything.  I enjoy knitting more than other things, so that's what I'll stick with.  But, I'm having a hard time finding orange or yellow yarn for this month's project.  So, I'm going to use some wool from my stash to make (another!) felted project.  More on that later...

When the going gets tough...

...the tough get going the frustrated eat ice Caramel Praline Crunch ice cream.  For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to properly attach the sleeves to the body of the baby sweater.  I read the book, looked at the diagrams, tried something, ripped it out (three times).  Then I dished up and ate some ice cream, looked in some other knitting books with no luck, looked online with no luck, then sat down to try again.  I eventually did sew a seam that looks nice from the outside.  It looks nice inside, too, it's just bulkier than I wanted.  But the yarn is so soft that hopefully my friend's baby won't mind.  On to the next seam... (I like the knitting part better!)

Knitting "To Do" List

Recently I've been inspired by knit bloggers that sew.  Just look at this bag that Katie made!  Isn't it lovely?  And Lynne and her friend Lisa were busy making beautiful bags, too!  So two days ago I walked into my sewing room thinking I'd make a new bag, too.  Ack!  Knitting projects were everywhere!  When I first started knitting I did a good job of making one thing at a time.  But I'm not now!  I didn't have the courage to start a new sewing project, too.  (I have lots of fabric for clothes that I'm supposed to be making for my daughter!  She asks me about them now and then.)

So my mind is feeling a little cluttered right now because I have so many knitting projects started.  (Really, I have so many things started in general.)  I have decided to make a "to do" list.  I'm going to make it here so I can 1) organize my thoughts and be able to find the list easily and 2) be embarassed enough not to start anything else.  So here I go...oh, this is going to hurt.  :(

1)  Prayer shawl (1/3 done)

2)  Knitted squares for baby blanket for daughter's scouting group (1/3 - 1/2 done)

3)  Baby blanket that was for a family in Chile but is now going toward the scouting group's project (3/4 done)

4)  Wobbly Circles Tote (not started but yarn purchased, KAL starts 4/15)

5)  Footie socks (started this to try out a pattern, could just rip out until later)

6)  Felted pencil holder/small vase in orange/yellow for Project Spectrum (started knitting this today for a surprise for someone, want to make 2)  week of 4/16:  decided to knit this later on circs

7) Baby sweater (started to assemble today)  week of 4/16:  finished and blocked, needs washed

8)  Wrist warmers (less than 1/4 done)

9)  Scarf (haven't decided if I like the pattern, may rip out)

10)  Six felted purses to line (one started)

11)  Bought sock yarn today to make socks for a friend's daughter  4/26:  If it's in the stash and not cast on yet, I'm not calling it a project.

12)  Three wool thrift store sweaters to unravel, wash, dry, and wind (one started)  4/26:  Now I have five, but who's counting?  I'll get to them later.

13)  Several projects I want to get to for gifts (not started and no yarn purchased)  It's only been a few weeks since this post and I can't even remember what these projects were!

Oh, my.  How did this happen?  Please, any of you friendly knit bloggers that read this blog, DON'T LET ME START ANYTHING NEW UNTIL I FINISH SOME OF THESE THINGS!!!
