I'm doing some "make ahead" cooking today - spaghetti sauce, chicken breasts, cubed steaks - and remembered I still needed to share the kitchen remodel photos with you. The ivy wallpaper is gone and the ripped vinyl flooring has disappeared! We're very happy with how it turned out.
The appliances were not included in the project. After this picture was taken we bought a stainless steel gas range. I love cooking with gas! I thought it wouldn't be much different than our electric range but I was wrong. We still need to replace the microwave with a stainless steel one, but we'll do that once it breaks. It's still new and I think it blends in well with the cabinets.
Putting everything back felt like moving into a new house! We have more cabinet space now and had to figure out where to put everything. There are still two boxes of rarely used items to put away, then we'll be done.
We had the dining room finished up while the carpenter and painters were here. The red doesn't match our rug perfectly, so I'll probably look for different paint (still red). But we're very pleased to have this room done, too. Unfortunately, I can't find a "before" picture, but here's a "during" picture for comparison.
The whole process took less than one month (exactly one month if you include us buying the range and having it installed). Our contractor was wonderful and it was all relatively painless. It feels so good to have it completed. Before, the kitchen looked dirty even after I cleaned. But now it looks nice even if it's messy. What a relief!
That looks fantastic!

Wow, it looks great! I love the new countertops, and I'm amazed at how much simply painting the cabinets and changing the hardware can make it look like an entirely different kitchen. I bet you're glad it's done :)

Wow...wonderful...I think the biggest difference will be the island. That's a lot of prep space. Enjoy.

Amazing transformation. Love the new kitchen. I would love to cook on gas. Hope it doesn't take long to get use to the gas.

That looks amazing!!! I often wonder if I'd be more motivated to clean the kitchen if I did some upgrades in there. Maybe someday...
Meanwhile, I will drool over your kitchen and imagine all the wonderful foods coming out of it!

Awesome new kitchen!
I never knew I'd miss having and island until, well, I didn't have it anymore :). And it's amazing how much more storage space you end up with! (I've been trying for years to convince my mom to put one in her kitchen so she can stop storing her mixer(s), blender, and various kitchen-like doo dads in the hall closet...even my dad is into the idea--more room for his stuff in the closet that way...)
And gas...the one thing bad experiences have taught me is to remember was that open flames heat pots and pans faster than an electric coil. Very important for not burning oil...let me be your cautionary tale, ahem.

What a beautiful kitchen! I love the white. We had ours redone a few years ago and I was amazed what a difference it made. Mine is a lot smaller than yours though.
I can't wait to go check out the makeup stuff on YouTube. I never think to look for anything on there unless someone (my kids usually) tell me about something. I need something interesting as I'm at my oldest daughters watching her kids (they say they're too old for me to say babysitting) while she is in the hospital. An infected cut on her little toe ended up in a major, full blown infection so I'm here, twiddling my thumbs till they get home from school.
Hope all is going well with you and yours. Your pug is adorable, as usual. Libby is good, but she suffers this time of year from allergies so she spends most of her day itching. She's a mess.
Take care, sorry it's been so long but summers are crazy around here.
