I don't have WIP pictures to share right now so I'll share FO photos instead. Above is the Shawl Collared Cowl pattern that I liked so well. The buttons are on and I know I will use this a lot this winter. I'd like to make one for my mom for Christmas, too. It seems like a buttoned cowl would be easy to wear and less cumbersome than a scarf with long tails.
It looks wonderful -- so soft and cozy! The color you chose is very versatile, too. I have this pattern in my queue.

Nice!
I've been pondering cowls with the chilly mornings we've been having and my not wanting to pull out my scarves yet...they seem like overkill just now...and a buttoned one seems so much less "claustrophobic" than the slip-over-your-head dealies. Much less mussed up/static inducing hairdos!

This is the cutest cowl! The colour, the heathery yarn, the quiet yet stylish design and the buttons. It's perfect!! Has a classic vintage look to it. Love it!

It's beautiful. Makes me wish I was much more stylish than I am!

oh it's pretty and soft and looks great on you! I am a huge fan of cowls; I like wearing them to dress up a plain shirt - sometimes they're easier than scarves. (and they're usually quick to knit and don't take a ton of yarn!)

Beth, that is fantastic! I might have to make it and soon. I do love making cowls and even found myself muttering to myself "you need another cowl like you need another hole in your head" - they are irresistable to make and fun to wear.

i'm officially inspired, and ditto what mary said about something to transition before scarves, and being able to button the cowl. another great thing is many of the patterns really are easy which means a quick knit, and not a lot of yarn-so justifies splurging on some luxury fiber.
