Odds and ends

Peony time!

Hi there, everyone!  Life has been pretty busy and I haven't taken the time to blog.  (I haven't read many blogs lately either.  Hope you are all well!)  I've had some people inquire about my safety during the tornadoes.  We're fine in our part of Georgia and I feel very blessed to be able to say that.  Thank you for your concern!

Holy Week and Easter are a busy time of the church year for the Worship & Music team at any church.  From that point of view, I breathed a sigh of relief when Easter was over.  :)  But I loved, loved, loved the worship service we had!  It was a joyous celebration.  One of our band members called it "Easter to the max" and I think that fits.  Another special thing from that day was "flowering the cross."  (The poor photo quality reminds me of photos from the 70s and 80s!) 

Did you watch "the wedding" this morning?  I didn't think about it until after I was done checking my email.  They were just starting their vows when I tuned in on my phone - almost missed it!  (Okay, I have to say that I think it is really cool to be able to watch on my phone from across the globe.  I guess it makes me old to think this is fun or unusual.  But when I was growing up, people would have just read about it in the papers the next day.  Would it have even been broadcast here live?)  The music in that service was beautiful, wasn't it?  And the wedding dress?  Fabulous!

Prom is this weekend.  And a friend's play.  And a couple of meetings.  I guess this is a busy time of the year for anyone with kids in high school!  I hope you all have a great and safe weekend.

 

FO Friday - Pettine!

Pettine is finally finished!  I started knitting this with Mary last fall.  At first, we were very faithful about knitting only this when we met.  But then one of us had a knitting deadline and so on...  Pretty soon both shawls were tucked away.  But I got this out a few weeks ago and now it's done.  Trump looks like he's not so sure about being a model, doesn't he?

I liked this pattern and it's my first side-to-side shawl.  There is a mistake in my knitting somewhere because I ended up with 10 stitches at the final decrease instead of 11.  And I appear to have one extra border section on one side.  But it will be fine and I am NOT going to go back and figure out my mistake.

And I liked the yarn - Malabrigo Sock in the Archangel colorway.  The only thing I don't like is that this yarn looks yucky in fluorescent light.  Seriously.  It is like a sunrise when it's in natural light.  So. Very. Beautiful.  But in fluorescent light?  Blech.  Dull purple.  Guess I will only be wearing my shawl outside.  :)

Time to give it a soak!  If I can get this pinned out today, I can wear it to my knitting class tomorrow.  But class is inside.  What will I do?!

Spring Break Highlights

Last week was Emma's spring break and we headed to Florida (gulf side) to see Steve's parents.  One of my favorite parts of road trips is that I usually don't have to drive and can knit, knit, knit!  As a result, Sassymetrical and Pettine (from last fall) are almost done.  This year I even got some knitting done at the beach.

Ocean + knitting = great relaxation!

 While the men golfed on Wednesday, the ladies headed out for lunch and shopping in Venice.  I got some beads for Emma to turn into necklaces for me and some new sunglasses.  Later on I went to an outlet store and bought more jewelry - chunky costume jewelry.  We'll see if I have the guts to wear it.  :)

It's hard to believe that the school year is almost over here!  Soon it will be summertime, summertime.
