Felt Like Knitting

A bit of a breather

Did you all have a good weekend?  We had beautiful weather and I enjoyed being outside in it to cut the grass yesterday.  With the mulching blade on the mower, I didn't have to empty bags of grass onto the compost pile and it hardly seemed like work.  I did see a lot of things that need done around the yard, though.

I didn't get around to posting on Friday so I'll show you a finished object today.  It's Swifty (Rav link) from Mason Dixon Knitting's Outside the Lines.

These aren't good photos and the project itself isn't pretty like the ones in the book.  But the Swifty does work great!  I just tried it out this morning and was amazed by the dog hair and dirt it picked up.  I need to knit a few more of these.  Do you think I'll clean the floor more often if I have fun cloths to use?

Emma's drama production went well this weekend.  Can you believe I forgot to get a single picture?  I wasn't back stage for costuming and it never occurred to me to snap a photo before.  I'll have opportunities later because the group is taking their show on the road and will visit area elementary schools who don't have arts programs.  I think they'll enjoy acting for the school kids and I think the school kids will love the show.  

Now that much of the drama stuff is over I feel like I have a bit of a breather.  Time to catch up on some of this housework that's piling up around here.  I'd also love to straighten up my sewing room so I can make a few things for my wardrobe.  Lynne has been sewing a lot lately and seeing her lovely projects makes me want to make some of my own.

FO Friday

Once again I didn't get ready for school as early as I should have and now it's time for bed.  Maybe next week I'll get finished earlier in the week and have some free time on Thursday evening?

 

The Tenza mitts are done!  I enjoyed knitting this project.  If I use this yarn when I knit it again, I'll use a larger needle than a size 6.

 

I also finished a plain stockinette hat for 7 Bridges.  This thing is huge!  (Notice that in the photo it's folded in quarters, not in half.)  It fits me so I imagine it will also fit someone else.  I was happy to use up the last of a skein of the gray yarn.  I like it when it works out like that!

FO Friday - 1/15/10

Darkside Cowl - I like the project but I'm not sure that I'm much of a cowl person.  I do like that it doesn't get in the way while I'm outside with the dog.  This is one project my daughter won't borrow because she doesn't care much for it.  But she made a good model!

Speaking of the dog...  Here is Trump modeling the cowl.  He's not very impressed, is he?  I actually think he hates getting his picture taken.

Alice Cullen mitts - This was such a fast project!  I cast on in the morning and finished them that night (with plenty of non-knitting time in between).  I plan on making some for my mom, too.  She got a (dreaded) Snuggie for Christmas but complained that it doesn't keep her hands warm so she needs mitts.  I told her she just needs a Snuggie with fingers at the ends of the arms.
   

Sorry for no links!  I'm writing this at midnight Thursday evening and I really need to get to bed.  It took me longer than I hoped to prepare for school and I have to get up early in the morning.  No fun!  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Finished Object Friday - 1/1/10

My last finished object of 2009 is a One Row Handspun scarf for my mom to go with her new winter coat.  I sure enjoy knitting this pattern - very easy to remember and fast on big needles.

And my first FO of 2010...the Gargantuan Melon hat by Carla Martin.  I enjoyed knitting this pattern and like the results.  It's a little short because I didn't measure my gauge, so I'll add a few rows to the next one.  This is for 7 Bridges and it's bound to fit someone.

My mom left today and after I took the sheets off the guest bed, I piled on stuff from my sewing room to sort.  I've got all kinds of photos, old cards, artwork from my daughter when she was young, etc.  It will feel good to finish going through it and get it filed away.

Finished Object Friday: December 11

I've decided it's much easier to blog when I have prompts during the week!  I think Friday will be the day that I show the things I've finished during the week.  Not much talking, mostly pictures.  Kind of like Eye Candy Friday combined with FOs.  :)
